The Shar-Pei is a very unique and loyal breed. They may tend to grow out of some of their wrinkling and therefore you must like the adult as well as the cute wrinkly puppy. They can be very intelligent and easy to train but they need to have consistent and firm methods of obedience and they need to have a lot of socializing to make them good members of the family. They tend to be a bit of a “couch potato” and most don’t particularly enjoy water. They are generally easy to groom and care for with little maintenance and bathing needs. They do not do well in extreme heat or extreme cold and do absolutely the best as a loved companion in your home.
